TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

AMP4NC provides structured training pathways for co-op personnel at all levels, from newcomers to advanced drone technicians. Training is modular and scalable, with delivery options including regional sessions, on-site workshops, and online content.

Basic Drone Operations and Flight Safety

Covers essential hands-on skills, including drone setup, manual and auto-mated flight techniques, emergency procedures, and routine maintenance. Emphasizes safety protocols and risk management, preparing trainees for real-world field conditions.

Mission Planning & Inspection Techniques

Teaches how to design and execute utility-specific flight plans for inspecting power lines, poles, and substations. Includes instruction on image capture settings, GPS logging, flight path automation, and post-flight data documentation.

Emergency Response and Rapid Deployment

Prepares crews for fast, coordinated aerial response during outages and post-storm events. Topics include pre-storm staging, emergency flight authorizations, damage documentation, and integration with restoration workflows.

Environment-Specific Modules

Provides operational strategies and safety considerations tailored to com-plex environments. Includes factors like wind shear, RF interference, terrain obstacles, and coastal corrosion mitigation techniques.

TRAINING STRATEGY

To implement AMP4NC statewide, a flexible, regionalized training approach is essential balancing fixed hubs, mobile reach, and co-op collaboration to ensure equitable access and consistent instruction.

REGIONAL TRAINING HUBS

Aligned with AMP4NC’s Regional Capacity Strategy, three core training hubs will connect with Community College partners to anchor instruction and certification in the East, Central, and Western parts of the state, making in-person training more accessible and locally relevant.

MOBILE TRAINING UNITS

AMP4NC will deploy Mobile Training Units equipped with all necessary gear to deliver on-site, hands-on instruction in co-op service areas and a dedicated training locations.

CO-OP PARTNERSHIPS

Co-ops will be encouraged to collaborate to benefit from shared training, equipment, or instructor visits. These training partnerships may evolve into longer-term operational alliances where co-ops jointly invest in gear, pilot services, or data management tools.

Veteran-Led Instruction

Veteran-Led Instruction

Veteran-Led Instruction

Veteran instructors bring operational discipline and real-world UAS experience to every session.

The program supports veteran employment through training, certification, and AMP4NC deployment opportunities.

On-Demand Support

Veteran-Led Instruction

Mobile training units are equipped with drones, targets, charging, and Star link for full classroom functionality.

Teams deliver hands-on training directly at co-ops and communities, reducing access barriers and enhancing realism.
